POS System Cost in Saudi Arabia: Software, Hardware and Fees
What a POS really costs: subscription or licence, devices, mada and card commission, with the source and date of every figure, plus questions on lifetime licences and hidden fees.

POS system cost in Saudi Arabia splits into four parts: software, hardware, card payment fees, and set-up and support. Payment fees are the least visible, and over the years they can exceed the price of the software itself. This guide uses only published figures, each with its source and the date we checked it (3 November 2026), then gives you a three-year worksheet and questions that expose hidden fees before you sign.
One note up front: we do not publish a price for Manzomia's POS here because it is not public yet. You will find how to get one in the Manzomia section below. Every outside figure is an example from a named source, not a market average.
What makes up the price of a POS system?
| Item | Type | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Software | Recurring subscription, or a one-time licence | What the price covers: users, devices, branches |
| Hardware | Bought once | Screen or all-in-one till, printer, scanner, drawer |
| Bank card terminal | Sometimes a monthly or yearly fee | The monthly sales level that waives the fee |
| Card commission | A percentage of each payment | mada, credit cards, and the cap per payment |
| Set-up, training, data migration | Usually once | Whether they are in the price or charged separately |
| Support and regulatory updates | Included or charged | Who pays when e-invoicing requirements change |
Prices are quoted either before or after 15% VAT, so always ask which. In the examples below we say which each figure is.
How much does POS software cost: subscription or licence?
A subscription spreads the cost over the years and usually includes updates and support. A one-time licence looks cheaper on day one, but the honest calculation includes what you may pay later for updates and support.
One published example: a Saudi cloud-accounting vendor's POS pricing page lists its POS add-on at SAR 50 per user per month, or SAR 600 per user per year, before VAT (SAR 690 a year with VAT). That is one figure from one vendor, charged as an add-on on top of its accounting plan, so do not read it as a market price. Check the page before relying on it, because prices change.
We give no wider range because we found no reliable, dated source for one. Classified-ad sites list bundles of hardware and software at widely varying prices, but they differ in what is included. Ask of every offer: is the invoice in Arabic with the VAT number, and are updates for Fatoora integration in the price?
How much does POS hardware cost?
The same vendor's device page lists prices including VAT, last checked by us on 3 November 2026:
| Device | Published price including VAT |
|---|---|
| Sunmi V3 terminal | SAR 800 |
| Sunmi D3 Pro with 80 mm printer bundle | SAR 2,153.95 |
| 80 mm cloud kitchen printer | SAR 747.5 |
These are one vendor's prices for specific devices. We found no published source for a barcode scanner or cash drawer price, so ask for a written quote. And remember that the bank's card terminal is usually separate from these devices.
How much do mada and card payments cost?

The mada FAQ says acquiring banks may charge up to 0.80% of the purchase value, with a maximum of SAR 40 per transaction, and that the fee is subject to the contract between bank and merchant. So a SAR 35 purchase costs the merchant about SAR 0.28, and a SAR 20,000 purchase costs SAR 40. The customer pays no extra fee.
The card terminal itself is often supplied free in return for a minimum level of sales. A published comparison of terminal fees for 2026–2027 covers several banks and providers:
- The common threshold to waive the monthly fee is SAR 15,000 in monthly sales. Below it, the comparison shows monthly fees between SAR 75 and SAR 150, depending on the provider.
- Some banks set a cap above SAR 40 per transaction in their own contract, so read the cap in yours.
- Credit card commission is higher than mada, ranging in the comparison from about 1% to 3% by bank, business activity and card.
- One provider lists an annual operating fee from the second year of SAR 400 to 550 depending on the device, before VAT.
These are named providers' figures on the review date, and your contract may differ. Ask your bank for the terms in writing.
How do you work out the cost over three years?
The first month's price misleads. Add up everything you will pay in 36 months:

| Item | How to work it out |
|---|---|
| Software | Monthly subscription × 36, or licence plus any paid updates and support |
| Hardware | Price per device × number of tills |
| Set-up and training | Once, or zero if included |
| Payment fees | Monthly card sales × rate × 36, plus terminal fees |
| Regulatory updates | Zero if included, or a written price |
Here is a worked example for one till, to show the arithmetic only. It is not a quote. Software at SAR 600 a year before VAT for three years is SAR 1,800, or SAR 2,070 with VAT. Add the D3 Pro and printer bundle at SAR 2,153.95 including VAT, and software plus hardware come to SAR 4,223.95.
Now add payments. SAR 30,000 of monthly mada sales at 0.8% is SAR 240 a month, which is SAR 8,640 over 36 months at the ceiling. Payment fees here exceed software and hardware combined, and they follow your bank contract rather than your POS vendor. Compare vendors on software and devices, and negotiate the fees with the bank separately.
Which costs do people forget when comparing offers?
The difference between two offers may sit in items that never appear in the headline price. Put this list in front of every vendor:
- Set-up and item import: does the vendor load your item list from Excel, or do you pay for it?
- Training: once, or for every new employee? In which language?
- On-site installation: a technician visit to connect the printer and devices, and whether it has a fee.
- Consumables: thermal paper and barcode labels, which recur every month.
- Connectivity: a backup internet line if your site is weak, since a cloud POS depends on it.
- Replacing devices: when you will need a new screen or printer, and whether the system runs on the new model.
- VAT: many offers are quoted before VAT, so add 15% if your price excludes it.
We give no figures for these items because we found no published source for them, so ask for them in writing. What matters is that each one appears in your table with a price or the word "included".
What should you ask about a "lifetime licence" or a "free" POS?
Both offers can be perfectly legitimate, but each needs a written definition of what is in it. Ask in neutral terms:
- Lifetime of what: this version, this device, or the vendor? What happens if the vendor stops trading?
- Are updates included, including ZATCA requirement updates? Integration with Fatoora may need a new version.
- Is support free after the first year, and for how long?
- How many users, devices and branches does the licence cover, and what does an extra one cost?
- If it is free: how does the vendor earn? From devices, payment fees or paid plans? What is missing from the free plan?
- How do I export all my data if I leave?
Check your own deadline too. ZATCA announced that Wave 25 must integrate with Fatoora by 1 February 2027, so buy only what the vendor confirms in writing will be ready. More on choosing is in our guide to choosing a cloud POS in Saudi Arabia.
How can you cut the cost without weakening the system?
Real savings come from choosing what you actually need, not from the cheapest offer:
- Start with one till and add more when needed, instead of buying devices for branches that have not opened.
- Ask your bank about more than one terminal if needed, and compare the monthly sales threshold before signing.
- Know your mix of mada and credit card sales, because the gap between the two rates grows with turnover.
- Do not pay for modules you will not use: start with selling and stock, and add the rest later.
- Compare annual and monthly plans, and confirm you can cancel and export your data.

How much does Manzomia's POS cost?
We do not publish a price for Manzomia's POS, because subscription plans depend on the size of your business. Ask for a quote or a free demo, tell us your business type, branches and the number of tills, and we will send the right plan with its price in writing. Manzomia's point of sale is live today, and Fatoora integration is coming soon; we will tell you exactly where it stands before you subscribe. Our retail POS page shows what shops typically need.
What is your next step?
Copy the three-year table and fill it with written offers from at least two vendors, and from your bank for the fees. Then request a quote or book a free 30-minute demo by video, and we will fill the table in with you using your own figures.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a POS cost for a small shop?
There is no single figure. One published example is a POS add-on at SAR 600 per user per year before VAT, and published devices from SAR 747.5 to 2,153.95 including VAT, plus payment fees. Ask for written offers.
What commission does mada charge a merchant?
mada says acquiring banks may charge up to 0.80% of the purchase value with a SAR 40 maximum per transaction, as agreed in the bank-merchant contract. Check the cap in your contract.
Is a lifetime licence cheaper than a subscription?
It can be, if it includes updates and support and the vendor stays in business. Ask for a written definition of "lifetime", whether ZATCA requirement updates are included, and what happens if you leave.
Is there really a free POS?
Some vendors offer free plans. Ask what they leave out: devices, payment fees, regulatory updates, support, user and branch limits, and how the vendor earns.
How much is Manzomia's POS?
The price is not public, because plans depend on the size of your business. Ask for a quote or a free 30-minute demo by video.
