Business cards with dull colours, a roll-up that cuts off the logo, a shop sign that breaks the rules: print mistakes are paid for twice. You pay to produce them, then again to redo them. Printing and signage in Riyadh goes smoothly with four habits. Order only what you need, and give the printer a print-ready file. Choose materials for where each piece will live, and check the sign rules before fabrication. This guide covers essential items, a file check, materials, the official shop sign rules and pricing.

Which printed items does a Riyadh business need?

Start with what a customer sees at first contact: your shop sign, your business card and your menu or brochure. Add seasonal and exhibition print as you need it. Avoid large runs of anything whose prices or details will change soon.

Interior signs and vehicle graphicsWayfinding inside, delivery and service fleetsUse the same colours and fonts as the rest of your brand

If you're exhibiting, treat the stand's print as one piece: roll-up, backdrop, brochure and counter in the same colours with the same message, because visitors pass your stand in seconds. For a company profile to hand to clients, see our guide to company profile design in Saudi Arabia.

What makes a file print-ready?

A print-ready file is a PDF at the finished size, in CMYK colour, with bleed, images at enough resolution and fonts embedded. Anything missing won't show on your screen. It shows after printing, when fixing it is expensive.

Bleed, safe zone, CMYK, 300 ppi, embedded fonts and a PDF/X export: check all six before printing.
  1. CMYK colour: screens mix colour with light (RGB) and presses print with ink (CMYK). Ask your printer which colour profile they use and convert before you send. For your logo, use the print code from your brand guide.
  2. 3 mm bleed: extend backgrounds and photos past the trim edge. Adobe's guide to setting a print bleed gives 3 mm (0.125 in) as the industry norm. Check with your printer, because some ask for more.
  3. A safe zone for text: keep text, logos and phone numbers a few millimetres inside the trim, because the cut can drift slightly.
  4. Image resolution: 300 ppi at the final size for items read up close, per Adobe's Photoshop guidance. Large banners seen from a distance can use less.
  5. Fonts: embed them in the PDF or convert them to outlines, especially Arabic fonts. Then reopen the file and check the letters are still joined.
  6. Export: a print PDF with the preset your printer recommends, such as PDF/X, with crop marks.
  7. Proof: always approve a digital proof, and ask for a printed sample for large runs or materials you haven't used before.

If you don't have a file that meets this list, don't send a WhatsApp image as "the print file". Ask your designer for the print version, or let our graphic design team prepare it from your original files. Our guide to graphic design services in Riyadh explains what to hand to a designer.

Which materials suit each print and sign job?

Choose the material by location (indoor or outdoor), how long it must last, and budget. A banner for a two-week opening doesn't need to last years. A storefront sign, though, can't fade in the sun.

Riyadh's sun is strong for most of the year. For anything installed outside, ask about the UV resistance of the ink and material. At Manzomia we recommend materials by location, budget and expected lifespan, and explain the price difference before production.

What are the shop sign rules in Riyadh?

Your outdoor shop sign is tied to your business licence. Balady's commercial licence service asks for an outside photo of the shop showing its sign (page in Arabic). So design the sign to the rules from the start, not after fabrication.

The commercial sign requirements published by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, shown on a typical shop front.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing publishes its commercial sign requirements on its website, listed as in force. They say:

  • The outdoor sign uses 3D letters only, placed on the wall band between the ground and upper floor. It is 80 cm high, with 25 cm left clear on each side of the shop front.
  • The sign shows only the trade name, the commercial registration (CR) number and the logo, if the logo is in the CR.
  • Letter lighting is hidden behind hollow letters, and spotlights are not allowed.
  • No extra background panels behind the letters, other than the building's own facade finish.
  • No commercial signs or letters on upper floors; businesses on upper floors share one combined sign inside the building.
  • Letters must not block windows or other openings on the facade.

Want a different design? Submit a proposal to the municipality (Amana) for review and approval. Details and fees can vary by municipality, location and urban code. Check the current rules for your activity and address on Balady, then use its fee calculator before you order fabrication.

In practice, that means three things for design. Your logo must read well as 3D letters with no backing panel. The name on the sign must match your CR. Slogans and phone numbers move to your print and digital channels. Use the same name on your Google Business Profile too, because customers search for the name they saw on your storefront.

Steps for a new sign, from photo to installation

  1. Photograph the storefront straight on, and measure its width and the wall band above the entrance.
  2. Check the trade name, CR number and logo exactly as they appear in your commercial registration.
  3. Design the 3D letters within the set height and side margins, with no backing panel and no spotlights.
  4. Check your location's rules and fees on Balady. Submit the design to the municipality if it differs from the standard points.
  5. Approve the proof and final dimensions, then fabrication and installation follow on the agreed date.

How much do printing and signage cost?

Five things set the price: quantity, material, size, finishing (lamination, special cuts, lighting) and installation. The unit price falls as quantity rises, but don't print more than you'll use before your details change. At Manzomia, printing and signage starts from SAR 1,490. We confirm the final price once we know the items and quantities, or see a photo of your storefront for signs.

PackageForIncludes

ExhibitionYour stand at an exhibition or eventRoll-ups, a pop-up backdrop, brochures, a branded counter, delivery and set-up
Shop signageA new or refreshed storefrontSign design, 3D or illuminated letters, fabrication and installation, permit coordination with the owner

For signs, we prepare the design and dimensions needed for the permit and coordinate with you. The permit is issued in your business's name by the relevant municipality, and government fees are separate from our price. We install in Riyadh, and elsewhere by arrangement, and ship printed items outside Riyadh by courier.

Which mistakes push printing costs up?

  • Sending an RGB file, or a WhatsApp image, as the print file.
  • Text touching the trim edge, or a background that stops short of the bleed.
  • Printing a large run before approving a proof, or without a sample of a new material.
  • Fabricating a storefront sign before checking the rules and measuring on site.
  • A different logo colour on every item, because each printer guessed the code.
  • Indoor materials installed outdoors, where they fade or crack.

Where should you start?

List your current printed items and mark what needs updating. Planning a new sign? Take a straight-on photo of your storefront. Then gather your brand files: a vector logo and print colour codes. If your identity itself needs a clearer foundation, start with brand identity design before you print. Our guide to brand identity design in Saudi Arabia shows what a full identity contains.

Manzomia is a foreign-owned, MISA-licensed company in Riyadh that brings business setup, software and digital marketing under one roof. For print and signage, one team is responsible from design to installation. You don't have to coordinate a designer, a printer and an installer yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How much bleed does a print file need?

The usual bleed is 3 mm (0.125 in), according to Adobe's guidance. Some printers ask for more, so check your printer's spec before exporting.

Do I need a permit for a shop sign in Riyadh?

Yes. The sign is tied to your business licence on Balady and follows the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing requirements. The permit is issued in your business name and government fees are separate, so check Balady for your location before fabrication.

What's the difference between a flex banner and a roll-up?

A flex banner is PVC for large, usually outdoor, temporary use. A roll-up is printed film in a portable aluminium stand that rolls away, suited to indoor exhibitions and events.

Will I see a proof before printing?

Yes. We always send a digital proof, and a printed sample for large runs or special materials.

Do you print small quantities?

Yes, though the unit price drops as the quantity grows.
